Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk Experience

Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk this year 2016 in Mandaue was organize by Sir Herbert Kikoy of Drift Stories. It’s my first time to join the event since I’m not an owner yet of any DSLR cameras but instead use Asus Zenfone 2 camera to take #EverydayMandaue photos during this event. It’s quite awkward that they use their DSLR cameras and using my mobile phone camera instead.

I’m confidently enough that I can take good pictures for this Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk using Asus Zenfone 2 since I have several photos taken by Zenfone was featured to Zenfone Photography Community PH and Drift Stories.

Here are some of the pictures I took using Asus Zenfone 2.

During the event, I don’t have enough sleep but still go to the photowalk to experience and meet other people and some photographers who can teach me or what’s the use of the lenses πŸ™‚ After the Photowalk in Mandaue, we proceed to Bluewater Maribago Resort to do a short photowalk and eat lunch sponsored by them. Bluewater Maribago Resort is one of the sponsors of Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk Mandaue.

Here are some photos I take during the event. Please do comment on the pictures I take.

All participants joined the event got a free T-Shirt sponsored by Macy’s Camera Shop and PRGPhotoshop.com. Thanks to all sponsors for making this event happen and looking forward to join next year and hopefully using DSLR camera by that time πŸ™‚ Thanks also to Herbert Kikoy for the organizing the event.

I will accept all photo suggestions to improve my skills in Photography. Haha..

Looking forward again for more photowalk events in Cebu.

  1. Using a phone to capture stunning images is not awkward. It’s amazing! They get to use expensive devices to shoot but for some reason the quality of the pictures is just as good as taking it using your phone.

    It amazes me every time!

hehe.. you’re probably right… using phone taking photos is really feel good especially when someone appreciate it.. πŸ™‚

  2. Hala magkasinabot jud ta ani! I love mobile photography and the last time I joined a photo walk mainly because most of the participants are mobile users. Haha! Great shots, by the way. πŸ™‚

  3. I really like the quality of the camera of the phone and I’ve used the phone of my friend which I think has the same model as yours, it really has amazing quality. The photowalk seems fun, I’m thinking we’d be joining the next one, hopefully we wouldn’t be busy haha – Gee

Asus Camera is really good. Hopefully soon.. maka.join sad ka

  4. I personally haven’t joined a photo walk, and if I had joined Kelby’s photo walk, I would have used my phone. I haven’t fixed my DSLR since I’m too broke to get it fix. There’s nothing wrong with using a phone for taking photos (unless you’re being paid to shoot). Your photos are as good as some of the photos I’ve seen from the event. =)

Haha.. πŸ™‚ Hopefully maayo na imu DSLR.. if dli gani.. mobile lang sad para naa ko uban nga magmobile.. hhahaha

  5. You guys seemed to hold a great experienced. I was also part of Photo walk last Sunday, I was registered in Mandaue area, but I end up joining the Carbon and Pasil area, since I find Mandaue far. I like all the pictures you have taken, truly you have an artistic eye. Until next Photo walk!

  6. Your photos are great Jomar!! I’ve used my phone cam many times during my solo photowalks and it’s amazing. I think that as long as you know how to use your phone cam to its full potential, your photos will be life-changing.

Nice to see you there. Kuyog nasad ta next time! Hehe

  7. It was fun joining the photowalk with you. Your post made me realize that you do not need an expensive DSLR to capture great shots and to join a photowalk. The Asus Zenfone 2 is indeed a capable camera smart phone. I hope to see you on the next photowalk.

  8. It really does not matter what kind of camera you use. It always comes down to how you use them.

Nice pics, Jomar! Great stuff even though it’s just from a smartphone camera πŸ™‚

Thats why I put on my mind.. its basically how you capture the story of the picture

  9. I really find the black and white photos more challenging since flaws can be visible anywhere in the photo. Shadows can be messy or even the highlights upon taking or editting the photos. At first glance on your photos, I thought you used a DSLR but amazingly done through your phone. I’m looking for a phone that I can take pictures like these! Love it <3

  10. Your photos are stunning! Cheers because all my photos are also taken with my phone. I was supposed to join this but I went home too late from a night out. Haha! Maybe next time. Hey, do you know Phoneography Cebu?

    • laagtabaicom Reply

No. Is that a community for mobile photographers? Wanna join that.. hehe

  11. Kanindot anang mobile photography! Going phoneography is a trend now and it should not be taken a disadvantage. If you can take great photos with using only a mobile phone, then you’re doing a great job!

Well, so far, you did a good job sa imong photos! Congrats!

  12. Beautiful photos! I just went through Rea’s blogpost regarding the same photowalk and how I’d be more motivated to join up next time if I only had a DSLR, but nope! Your shots definitely drives home the point that it doesn’t really matter the equipment, it’s how you use it! I might definitely join the next one now! Thank for this! πŸ˜€

  13. who would have thought that those photos are taken using a smartphone? you take good photos man, just continue doing so. eventually if you decide to pursue street photography or whatever photography is that, i think you have a potential. i think everyone does, it just a matter of pursuing one’s passion and desire. hope to be part of the photo walks that you will be joining in the future. let me know also just incase I would not have any idea on schedules of photo walks. thank you!

  14. Snape (or was it Dumbledore?) once said that it isn’t in the wand (or camera) but in the skills of the owner. During our recent travels, I have been seriously considering ditching the huge DSLR in favor of our camera phone (Huawei P9) which is just as powerful but many times lighter. You made really great shots with awesome composition so it really isn’t up to the gear but the one using it. Keep up with the beautiful photos! πŸ™‚

  15. Im not an expert of photography too but your photos looks amazing. I guess it’s really the eye that made the frame and the person who composed the shot is the one to blame for the great pictures. Given that it’s street photography and you have natural light..mobile photography is always good to go. πŸ™‚

  16. Im not an expert of photography too but your photos looks are a bomb. I guess it’s really the eye that made the frame and the person who composed the shot is the one to blame for the great pictures. Given that it’s street photography and you have natural light..mobile photography is always good to go. πŸ™‚

  17. I like the black and white photos because they are so melodramatic. I though you are using an expensive camera as I went through to the pictures but when I read that you used ASUS, I was amazed. Who would have though these pictures are from smartphone. πŸ™‚

  18. Your photos are stunning! You difinitely have the viewfinders eye. And knowing that those photos were taken from you phone , it means you use your phone camera to its full potential.
Producing good quality photos does not necessarily mean you need high end Equipments but rather it depends on how well you maximize the resources you currently have to produce something better.
